Back To Then

Sounds like everyone’s already talking about
Where they’ll be at five years from now
But it never dawned on me how close that is
And I know I’m not yet that old in age
And there’s still many years left to my name

But those years seem to go faster the older I get
Time marches on, it’s a matter of time
‘Fore we all get gone, but I never realized how soon that could be
And I know it happens naturally

But if there was a fountain of youth, you’d find me splashing around
‘Cause these years are flying, I can’t hold ’em down
I swear, if I could, I’d do it all again
Take me back to then

Well, I’m glad I can’t see what the future holds
So it’s a surprise as I get old
And a mystery it is ’til the day I go
Hopefully, my best days are yet to be
But I know those old days will be hard to beat
‘Til then, I’ll sit back and just enjoy the show

The clock doesn’t pause for anyone
Just keep living out your minutes ’til your days are done
No, it doesn’t hold up for anything
Time just moves on naturally

But if there was a fountain of youth, you’d find me splashing around
‘Cause these years are flying, I can’t hold ’em down
I swear, if I could, I’d do it all again
Take me back to then
If there was a rewind button like a TV set
I’d be pressing that thing every chance I’d get
Just to make sure I didn’t miss something when
It took me back to then

And if there was a fountain of youth, you’d find me splashing around
‘Cause these years are flying, I can’t hold ’em down
I swear, if I could, I’d do it all again
Take me back to then
