Blane Muise, known by her stage name Shygirl, is an English singer, DJ, rapper, songwriter, and co-founder of the record label Nuxxe. Her music blends dance, hip-hop, experimental pop, grime, and deconstructed club elements, and she is associated with the hyperpop scene. Shygirl gained prominence through collaborations with Sega Bodega, Arca, and Sophie, and her music has been featured in Fenty Beauty commercials. She has released several singles and EPs, including Cruel Practice, Alias, and Club Shy. Her debut album, Nymph, received critical acclaim upon its release in September 2022.

Shygirl was born and raised in South London and is of Grenadian descent. She studied photography at the University of Bristol and began her music career in 2016 with the single “Want More,” produced by Sega Bodega. This marked the first release on the Nuxxe label, which she co-founded. She continued collaborating with Sega Bodega and released her debut EP, Cruel Practice, in 2018. Shygirl’s second EP, Alias, was released in 2020 and received positive reviews. In 2021, she released a performance film “Blu” and a single “BDE” featuring slowthai. She has also collaborated with Lady Gaga and Blackpink on a remix of “Sour Candy.” Shygirl’s debut album, Nymph, was critically acclaimed. She has performed as an opening act for the Sugababes and toured with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan.
