Hamilton Leithauser

James Hamilton Leithauser, born on April 15, 1978, is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, widely known as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band The Walkmen. From 2000 to 2014, he co-wrote and recorded seven studio albums with the band. Before The Walkmen, he and Peter Matthew Bauer were part of The Recoys. Leithauser hails from Washington, DC, but has resided in New York City since the 1990s.

In 2014, Leithauser launched a solo career, debuting with Black Hours, created with Walkmen bandmate Paul Maroon. In 2016, he collaborated with Rostam Batmanglij, formerly of Vampire Weekend, on the critically praised I Had a Dream That You Were Mine. Continuing his creative journey, Leithauser released The Loves of Your Life in 2020, showcasing his evolving artistry.
