Gerardo Horacio López von Linden, known as Cachorro López, is an acclaimed Argentine producer, musician, and songwriter born in Buenos Aires on March 3, 1956. With a career spanning decades, López has collaborated with prominent artists like Caifanes, Andrés Calamaro, and Paulina Rubio, among others. His achievements include two Latin Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year (2006 and 2009) and a Grammy Award for producing Julieta Venegas’ Limón y Sal. He also served as the executive producer for a 1997 Queen tribute album, showcasing his influential role in Latin and international music.

López’s early life involved attending Belgrano Day School and playing rugby, where he earned the nickname “Cachorro” for his height and clumsiness. During the 1970s, he lived in London and played in the reggae band Jah Warrior. Returning to Argentina in 1979, he joined the band Los Abuelos de la Nada, solidifying his career as a producer after their recording sessions in Ibiza. His early work also included collaborations with artists like Divina Gloria and David Lebon. López’s talent was recognized by legends like Charly García and Miguel Mateos, joining Zas in 1986 and solidifying his status in the Argentine rock scene.
